Prof. Kontogiorgis graduated from the Faculty of Law for Athens University, and then attended his postgraduate degree in political science, sociology and history in Paris. He is professor of political sciences in Paris and at Panteion University. From 1984 until 1990 he was rector of Panteion University. He was associated with the reform of the university system. He was one of the first to introduce European programs (Erasmus, training, etc.) in the Greek university system. He has taught at many foreign universities and has served as Research Director (Directeur de Recherche) in the French CNRS. He has served as General Manager of ET1 network and President-CEO of ERT S.A. In the national elections of 1993 he served as acting deputy press and media Minister. For many years he was a columnist at Athenian newspapers and column editor / intellectuals’ intervention in a major Athenian newspaper.
